The first meeting of 2015, Mid Ohio Bicycle Club season, was held on Tuesday, March 17th at the Gorman Nature Center with thirty members present. Our president, Diane called the meeting to order and the treasurer’s report was read by treasurer Terry White. The club is financially stable and ready for another good year of helping the community.

As a recap of Christmas past, the club adopted four families last year. We had one with seven children, one with five children and two families with one child each. Thanks to all that shopped, wrapped, delivered, and a special thanks to Steve for being an excellent Santa.

The club calendar for 2015 was passed out at the meeting and we found a couple dates that could be improved. Diane has sent out a new copy via email with the updated information. If you would like to host a ride or have another type of get together, let the officers know and we will get it on the calendar and make sure everyone knows.

Both houses are reserved for the Memorial Day weekend in the Amish Area. There is room for 23 people and as of the meeting only 18 are locked in to go. Many things to do, even if you are not a die-hard biker.

This year’s camping trip will be back at Letchworth State Park in New York the week of July 25 thru August 1st. Cost is $213 for a whole site and we are in the 700 loop again. There are about 20 or so going with some camping in tents and a few together in a cabin.

Chuck Beck is organizing the Findley State Park week. He and Randy are working on routes out of camp June 7th thru the 12th . You can come and stay 1 -5 days or drive up and ride with the group if you find a chance.

September 24th thru the 27th, Chuck Beck is putting together a Washington DC trip with no bicycles involved. The group will carpool there, Metro around the area and be staying in motels. Chuck has taken many groups there and he needs to know by August 1st if you are interested in taking part.

Nelson Shrogen stopped in to inform the group about the bike route around the Mansfield area. The club members supplied info on the route and concerns that might need to be addressed.

Bill DeGray is planning on going to Kentucky to ride The Red Bud Ride April 24th thru the 26th. Contact Bill soon if you are interested in taking part.

The bike trail is in need of lots of attention.  Gravel at all intersections, potholes, and some brush needs cut back. It was said the Bellville Johnsville area is in very bad shape. If you can organize something to help it would be appreciated.

The Fall-N-Leaf Ride is October 11th this year so make sure to keep the day free to help. We also need some ideas for the shirt design for this year and we need them soon so the design can be placed on the flyer. Terry has a good idea of what the routes will be.

It was discussed that our club Facebook page only friend members and most thought it was a good idea so to limit our page to our stuff and not a bunch of advertising. Also it was asked if the club could try to acquire a couple more wire bristled brooms to use when sweeping the roads and bike path.

Meeting adjourned!!!
